words(on)stages presents Astoria Felix, Eric Schmaltz, & (parenthetical) seven

May 21st @ The Central (603 Markham St, Toronto, ON M6G 2L7) — 7pm

I will be performing in collaboration with video artist and fellow St. Catharines ex-pat Kasia Smuga as part of the feature lineup for the one year anniversary party for Words(on)Stages. Kasia & I have planned an immersive audio/video experience that includes new sounds from my alt-orality projects as well as abstract footage from Kasia’s archive. See Facebook event page.

Complete details from our generous hosts Nicole & Will:

It’s the one year anniversary of words(on)stages
AND words(on)pages
AND (parenthetical).

Yep, we’ve been doing this for an entire year. So we’d love for you to come celebrate with us as we shake things up going into year two.

We’ll have two killer feature readings from past (parenthetical) contributors Astoria Felix and Eric Schmaltz, plus an open mic at the start of the night and readings from local (parenthetical) seven contributors. Eric will be collaborating with Kasia Smuga to bring us some awesome cool mysterious multimedia poetry!

ASTORIA FELIX is a writer. She has been creating zines and chapbooks for over four years, and enjoys exploring topics such as nature and romance within her work. She has a chapbook forthcoming with words(on)pages in the fall.

ERIC SCHMALTZ is an artist who works with text & sound. His work has been featured internationally online and in print and in galleries across Canada. Eric will be collaborating with KASIA SMUGA, a visual artist predominantly working with video and installation art. She grew up in St. Catharines, and graduated from the Visual Arts program at Brock University. She currently resides in Toronto, where she is pursuing her artistic interests in human interaction and manipulating non-conforming materials
