Eric Schmaltz is an artist, writer, & educator living in Toronto. His work is situated at the the intersection of language, affect, and technology, and he works across a variety of media including print, sound-performance, and video.
His visual work has been featured in Canada and the United States in solo and group shows at Havana Gallery (Vancouver), Lab T.O. (Toronto), Sugar City Arts Collective (Buffalo), the Critical Media Lab (Kitchener), & the Niagara Artists Centre (St. Catharines), with an upcoming screening at the International Video Poetry Festival in Athens, Greece.
Eric’s work has also been featured online and in print across Canada & internationally. Published pieces have appeared in periodicals as well as ephemera from Penteract Press (UK), No Press (Calgary) and above/ground (Ottawa), with a forthcoming publication from SpaceCraft Press.
Eric is currently completing a PhD in English at York University. His research focuses on Canadian poetry and poetics, media, and affect.
